PETER A. SCHOPEN RFCRegistered Principal * Financial Advisor
Peter Anthony Schopen is a Registered Principal and Financial Advisor with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc., member FINRA/SIPC. He has specialized in helping investors from the education, law enforcement, fire fighting and non-profit industries accumulate and preserve their wealth since 1989. In addition to the companies focus on wealth accumulation and transfer strategies, the advisors at PA Schopen & Assoc. offer guidance to the higher asset client in comprehensive estate planning and money management, long-term care (LTC) insurance advising, 529 college savings plans, as well as all types of retirement plan rollovers, including IRA, 401(k), 403(b), and 457 deferred compensation plans.
A resident of Colorado since 1977, Peter graduated from the University of Northern Colorado where he majored in Business and Psychology with a special emphasis in the area of law. He was a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society and the UNC Pre-Law Society where he served as President for both organizations.
Prior to becoming an independent advisor with Raymond James in 2000, Peter was an investment advisor for a nationally known investment company for nearly 12 years. He is a Registered Investment Advisor Agent (RIA), a Registered Financial Consultant (RFC). His registrations include the series 6,7,24,63,and 65, and he is also licensed in life insurance and variable annuities. Peter is a member in good standing of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants (IARFC).
A long-time volunteer for many organizations, Peter has been an active member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization since 1993, has served as a volunteer firefighter, serves as an advisor for the Arvada High School DECA club, volunteers at Roxborough Elementary, Zuma Horse Rescue and the local 4H club to which his daughters belong. In 2004, Peter and his wife Susan established an annual scholarship for high school students who have overcome adversity in their lives, and they hold an annual charity golf tournament to raise funds for this cause. When not with his wife and daughters, Peter enjoys fly fishing, bow hunting, golf, and spending time with friends. Peter and his wife Susan are residents of Roxborough Park, Colorado where they are raising their two daughters.
SUSAN H. SCHOPENDirector of Operations
Susan Holley Schopen joined P.A. Schopen & Associates, LLC in a part-time capacity starting in 2003, and became full-time in 2009 as Director of Operations. A native of Colorado, Susan graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1991 with a B.A. in journalism and communications with a minor in political science. Prior to her current position, Susan worked as a television news reporter in Alabama and Colorado. She covered investigative and crime stories, working closely with law enforcement officials. Susan received recognition from several city, county and federal agencies, as well as Crime Stoppers International for her work. She also worked with Safe2Tell, a nonprofit organization that gives school children a safe and anonymous way to report anything that might jeopardize the safety of a student.
Susan lives in Roxborough with her husband Peter and their two daughters. She is a member of the Roxborough Elementary PTIC, and enjoys cooking, gardening, fly fishing and keeping up with current events.
